Universal Periodic Review

In January 2020 during the Universal Periodic Review, Armenia will be accountable on the human rights situation in the country.

The Sexual Assault Crisis Center in cooperation with the Armavir Development Center and Equality Now submitted a joint report about sexual violence in Armenia to the  UPR Working Group.

This is our first experience to submit a report to the Human Rights Council.

՛՛The Crimes against Sexual Immunity and Sexual Freedom in 2015-2016 and the procedural specifics՛՛

The survey is a product of joint efforts between the Sexual Assault Crisis Center and the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia.

The goal of the survey was to determine the number of sexual crime cases filed in the Republic of Armenia annually, who the victims and suspects or accused persons are, how they are related to one another, and other relevant aspects, as well as to study the discontinued cases in order to understand how victim rights are safeguarded and investigative actions are performed.

Besides compiling statistics, the survey enabled identifying and drawing the attention of relevant professionals to a number of key questions related to sexual crimes.

The complete text of the survey is available here:
