About us

“Sexual Assault Crisis Center” NGO is a feminist organization which has a goal to prevent and combat sexual violence and sexism in Armenia.

“Sexual Assault Crisis Center” NGO started its activities in 2008 with the establishment of a hotline for sexual assault survivors and officially registered as an NGO in 2009. Currently, the SACC is the only specialized organization in the Republic of Armenia that supports survivors of sexual assault. Since 2010 the SACC has started to work with sexually abused children in Armenia.

The SACC works in three main directions. The first direction is the provision of specialized social, psychological, and judicial support to the survivors of sexual assault. 24/7 support to survivors of sexual violence through the hotline (+37477991280) is part of social services. The next two directions of the SACC are advocacy and awareness-raising, aiming to establish victim-centered and gender-sensitive approaches in the judicial system and to improve the legislation for the survivors of sexual assault. From 2011 to 2013, the SACC’s team worked on a draft of amendments and supplements to Chapter 18 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, titled “Crime against inviolability and sexual freedom” (Articles 138-142), which was adopted on the 21st of December, 2013.

Since 2022 the SACC has started a separate hotline (+37494941280) for addressing the cases of sexual harassment in various places like home, educational institutions, the streets, workplaces and etc.
